La Salle woman accused of befriending and then stealing from elderly person

Posted by wlpo on February 19, 2016

For the second time this week, a woman from the Illinois Valley is accused of stealing from an elderly person.

Forty-seven-year-old Dawn Ingold of La Salle was arrested Thursday afternoon at her job in La Salle. She was picked up for unlawful financial exploitation of an elderly person.

Peru Police Chief Doug Bernabei says Ingold was arrested after a five month investigation. It’s alleged that while she was put in a legal relationship with the victim, Ingold illegally spent $5,000 to $50,000 of the woman’s funds for her own use.

Ingold was taken to the county jail with her bond set at $35,000.
