Cleanup efforts are going on for a small oil spill that happened in the Illinois River Monday night.

The Bureau County Emergency Management Agency started cleanup efforts today for the spill, which happened less than a mile south of the Route 89 Bridge near Spring Valley. The EMA says there was a boat that leaked about 25 gallons of waste oil into the river, and the boat’s crew was able to make sure no oil went downriver after the spill.
