What will 2016 mean for gas prices in the Illinois Valley? So far the price at the pump is similar to what it was at the end of last year.
According to GasBuddy.com, La Salle, Peru and Oglesby stations have the lowest gas in the valley at $1.79 a gallon. Stations in Princeton, Streator, Ottawa and Mendota are selling unleaded for $1.85 to $1.89 a gallon.
You need to head south for the cheapest gas. Taylorville gas stations have unleaded right now for $1.64 a gallon.
The average price of unleaded statewide is right at two dollars a gallon, which is only a penny higher than it was a month ago and twelve cents lower than a year ago today.
