Two Hospitalized after Icy Chain Crash

Posted by wlpo on December 31, 2015

Wednesday’s icy weather made for messy driving conditions, and the potential for chain crashes increases as well.

La Salle County Deputies were investigating a two vehicle accident that would ultimately lead to two other accidents at the Route 251 and Walnut Street in Oglesby.

Arthur Elliot was going north on Route 251 when he was allegedly struck by Darrell Gingerich of Oglesby’s car that was sliding on the ice. The impact pushed Elliot’s car into the guard rail. No injuries or citations were issued there.

Morgan Mills from Standard was heading north on 251 when she stopped for the first accident. Jeff Blessington of Wenona was heading north and ran into the back of Mills. After that accident, Mills’ car was stopped on the road. Jeanie Pelnarsh from Pontiac was also heading north. She was unable to stop and hit Mills’ car, pushing it into the ditch. Pelnarsh’s vehicle came to rest in the southbound lane.

Mills and Pelnarsh were both taken to Illinois Valley Community Hospital.
