Illinois State Police Offer Flood Area Travel Tips

Illinois State Police are asking you to give yourself a little extra time while traveling over the weekend. They’ve issued a Flood Travel Advisory which had tips for driving in areas with possibly high water.

The biggest advice they have is to avoid those areas if possible and don’t try to drive through flooded areas. This follows the National Weather Service’s “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” announcement.

State Police also remind you it is the law to change lanes and reduce speed if possible when you see emergency vehicles.
