LaSalle police arrest holiday burglar

    An alleged burglar found out he cannot do business with a drug store when it’s closed on Christmas. LaSalle police came to Arkins Drug Store on Eighth Street about 5:36pm, but the suspect had already left the scene.

    A witness provided a description of the alleged thief. With help from Peru, Oglesby and State Police, 49-year old Terry Tinder was located in the 900 block of 7th Street and arrested on a charge of burglary. Tinder went to the county jail.

Illinois Valley covered by Storm Watch

    Add LaSalle, Kendall and Kane Counties to the already long list that will be under a Winter Storm Watch Monday. The watch starts at 6am in La Salle, Bureau and Putnam Counties.   However, in  LaSalle, it will end at 6pm, but will cover Bureau and Putnam for 24 hours.

    The key problems for our area will be accumulating ice….about a ¼ inch in LaSalle County and possibly up to a ½ inch in Bureau and Putnam. Easterly winds are expected to gust up to 45 mph. Between the expected ice and wind, some areas may have their electrical service disrupted. Travel will become difficult and hazardous.

    Daytime temperatures Thursday through Saturday won’t get above freezing.
