Ameren gets the green light to raise rates

Posted by wlpo on December 10, 2015

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Ameren, the company is raising your bill.

The Illinois Commerce Commission has approved Ameren’s request to charge more for delivering natural gas. The rate increase means $2 to $6 more a month for a typical home’s gas bill and $2 to $7 more a month for a home’s electric bill. You’ll have to fork out more money starting with your January bill.

Ameren expects to get about $45 million dollars more in revenue from charging higher delivery rates. They asked the state for $55 million in additional revenue.

The Citizen’s Utility Board plans to challenge the rate increases.
