Posted by wlpo on November 16, 2015

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) – Have you made the move to get rid of a home phone yet? State numbers show about half of Illinois households use cellphones only.

The Illinois Commerce Commission says 48 percent of households in the state relied on wireless-only service at the end of last year. Landline use has dropped 36 percent from 2005 to 2014. There are about 5 million landline users in Illinois and about 13 million wireless subscribers.

The national rate of wireless-only users is 41 percent.
