“Pearl Harbor” survivors needed for ceremony

Posted by wlpo on November 9, 2015

It’s almost their 40th edition. The Peru Veterans will again remember those lost at “Pearl Harbor” with a parade and ceremony December 5. Dennis Znaniecki, a 20-year veteran who retired in 2003, helps with planning…. and notes 1 “Pearl Harbor” survivor will come to this year’s ceremony. He’s Hobert Vanduhventer of Streator. Znaniecki believes, perhaps, 50 or 60 other survivors may live nearby, but are not physically able to come.

Znaniecki says, this has led to the present day and the sole participant Hobert Vanduhventer. He will ride in a car for the 11:30 parade to the South Shore Boat Club. A ceremony will follow at the South Shore Boat Club with a wreath placed on the water. Znaniecki says if you know of any “Pearl Harbor” survivors able to join the ceremonies December 5, call him at 815 830 0340.

Med marijuana not available Monday in Ottawa?

Posted by wlpo on November 9, 2015

The wait for legal medical marijuana in Illinois is nearly over. Associated Press was told by a trade group representing medical marijuana businesses in Illinois that 5 dispensaries plan to sell marijuana Monday, the first day of authorized sales. The dispensaries are in Canton, Addison, Marion, Mundelein and Quincy. The others including Ottawa have been licensed but are not planning to open for sales Monday.

“Classic Hits 103-9 WLPO” is attempting to reach PharmaCannis in Ottawa and determined when they will open.  We’ve been unsuccessful.

Approximately 3,300 patients with Illinois-issued ID cards will be able to purchase medical cannabis.
