Peru man homeless after fire

Posted by wlpo on October 17, 2015

A 3 alarm fire Friday in Peru has left the owner homeless and bewildered. Over 6 departments assisted Peru in a structure fire that broke out before noon at 1818 2nd street.

Ron Glancy was the occupant. The News Tribune reports no one was hurt, however; Glancy’s Labrador retriever perished in the fire. The fire started in the back of the home, but spread to the lower living quarters and the upstairs. It was put out in 3 hours. A State Fire Marshall came to the scene to investigate.

Glancy’s dog was crated while his kitchen was being remodeled. Firemen could not get to the dog to release him.

Peru received aid from Utica, Oglesby, Spring Valley, LaSalle, Tonica, Ladd and Cherry.
