News from the Illinois Valley

Search continues near Princeton for escapee

Posted by wlpo on September 2, 2015

I-80 allows many people through the Illinois Valley each day. But, when 1 of those travelers is in cuffs and goes running for a cornfield, that’s a problem. Transport marshalls allowed 35-year old Joshua Drinnon to escape from a state rest stop 5 miles west of Princeton around 4:45pm. Wednesday. A State Police release says he was last seen entering a cornfield on the north side of I-80.

Drinnon was incarcerated for aggravated robbery and was headed for San Diego, when he escaped. Drinnon is a white male, 6′ 1”, 200 lbs, bald, blue eyes and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and red wind suit pants. He may possess a “shank” or a filed down toothbrush to help unlock his handcuffs. State Police are using helicopters with thermal imaging cameras in their search. Joining them are personnel from Bureau County,  Whiteside County,  the City of Princeton and the City of Peru. Buildings will be searched within a certain radius. Residents in the area should lock all vehicles, out buildings and residences. If Drinnon is spotted, do not approach…call police.
