Ottawa going after grant to build wall around waste water treatment plant

Posted by wlpo on September 2, 2015

Ottawa has been very successful at getting grants over the years and they are chasing another one.

The city with help from the North Central Illinois Council of Governments is applying for a $600,000 state grant to pay for a new seawall around the wastewater treatment plant. Mayor Bob Eschbach says during the last two major floods they’ve had to sandbag around the plant to keep water out.

The new seawall is expected to cost over $2 million so the city is going after other grant money. Eschbach says a new seawall is a must so the city is willing to spend cash on top of any grant money they get.
