Traffic court awaits Coal City man who is blamed in fatal crash near Utica

Posted by wlpo on August 20, 2015

Two weeks after the fatal crash that killed Kari Ryan of Peru, no criminal charges have been filed yet against the other driver.

La Salle County State’s Attorney Brian Towne says they are waiting for blood alcohol test results to come back before any possible charges against 55-year-old Dale Hancock of Coal City. According to the NewsTribune, Hancock was released this week from St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was flown to Peoria after he allegedly crossed into Ryan’s lane of traffic at the Osage Curves on Route 6 the night of August 5th. However it remains to be seen if Hancock was driving under the influence at the time of the fatal crash.

Hancock has been given tickets for improper lane usage and illegal transportation of alcohol. He’s due in traffic court on September 23rd.
