IVCC filling the tuition gap for students who are not getting state grant money

Posted by wlpo on August 13, 2015

Around 500 students and their parents are breathing easier today thanks to a decision made by administrators at Illinois Valley Community College.

Because of the state budget crisis, money isn’t available for tuition help to IVCC students who were supposed to get state-funded MAP grants. With classes starting right around the corner, IVCC is covering the lost grant money.

IVCC President Jerry Corcoran says the school can’t allow the budget situation to keep students from enrolling. Illinois State and Bradley also are covering the MAP grants.

MAP grants can cover up to $1,700 of a student’s tuition.
