Chain reaction crash in Ottawa sends three to a hospital

Posted by wlpo on August 13, 2015

Listening to the radio while driving is a great idea but changing stations can distract you.

Eighteen-year-old Nickolas Quick of Ottawa says he looked away Wednesday afternoon to change stations and when he looked back up, it was too late to avoid rear-ending 19-year-old Christa Moore also of Ottawa. That collision pushed Moore into the back of a truck driven by 31-year-old Jeff McDunnin of Ottawa. The final driver involved in the crash on the northbound side of Veteran’s Memorial Bridge, 33-year-old Stacey Graham of Streator rear-ended Quick.

Graham and a 15-year-old girl riding with her were both taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center. McDunnin was also looked over at the Ottawa hospital.

Quick was ticketed for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The crash snarled traffic on the bridge for several minutes.
