Flag fundraiser deemed a success in Streator

Posted by wlpo on August 7, 2015

Thanks to your generosity, downtown Streator will be filled with patriotic flags this October and November.

Earlier this summer the Streator Fire Department started a donation drive to buy flags and put them up in and around downtown this fall. According to the department, they’ve raised enough money to buy 120 flags, special non-tangle flagpoles and enough brackets to add flags on all side streets of downtown. They also have enough cash to replace the flags when they eventually get worn.

The plans are to dedicate each block of downtown Streator to a different military branch along with prisoners of war and a whole block dedicated to the American flag.
