Ottawa man tries going underneath stopped train, gets hit

Posted by wlpo on August 6, 2015

You never mess around a train when it’s on the tracks, whether it’s moving or not. An Ottawa man found that out the hard way Thursday morning when he was hit by a train.

A train was stopped on the Guion Street railroad crossing shortly before eight Thursday morning when Gregory Pratt attempted to cross it.

According to police captain Dave Gualandri, Pratt got off his bike and attempted to go underneath the train while it was stopped. As Pratt tried to go underneath it, the train started moving and hit him.

Pratt was charged with failure to yield at a train crossing by a pedestrian. He was taken to OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa for non-life threatening injuries.
