Boat races return to Lake DePue

Posted by wlpo on July 29, 2015

In the past few years, low water has caused problems for the boat races in DePue. This year it’s too much water leading to the carnival being cancelled.

DePue Mayor Eric Bryant says the high water leaves little shoreline and just not enough room for the carnival. Everything else around the lake is going on as planned.

Test runs got started Wednesday and continue Thursday. Wednesday night features  live music from “Guy Lambardo & the Royal Canadians” featuring DePue’s Al Pierson. Thursday’s entertainment around the lake includes rides and games for the kids and a teen dance. Saturday morning will feature a 5K Walk/Run.

It’ll cost you three dollars to watch the races which start Friday afternoon. The nightly entertainment is free.
