Mandatory evacuation ordered for Utica due to rising Illinois River

Posted by wlpo on June 16, 2015

If you live in Utica and were affected by the 2013 floods, now is the time to get out.

The village has ordered a mandatory evacuation for all residences and businesses that were affected by the 2013 floods. The order was issued as the Illinois River had swelled past the level that required a mandatory evacuation.

A spokesman with the Utica Police Department said the Police and Fire Departments were in the process of moving city hall up the hill to the community center. He also said the flood wasn’t expected to be as bad as 2013.
