LaSalle County gets drenched Saturday

   After a severe thundestorm dumped heavy rainfall Saturday, residents in LaSalle County are left to clean up and dry out. The top half of the county was under a Severe Thunderstorm warning for about an hour and a quarter late Saturday afternoon. . Rainfall caused creeks to swell, water to cover I-80 at the Marseilles exit and brown water to flow furiously down Marseilles’s Main street. Some motorists – and their cars – got swept off of I-80 only to be rescued later, as seen on a Chicago TV station.

     “Classic Hits 103-9 WLPO” was told parts of Tonica flooded. Rainfall amounts across the 3 county area varied from .75 near Ladd, to 3 inches in Tonica and Ottawa. 1 man claimed it rained 5 inches near Lowell. 1 inch hail fell near Buda in Bureau County, according to the National Weather Service. . There was little damage in LaSalle, Peru, Oglesby or Spring Valley.
