Peter Miller Community Technology Center wins national environmental recognition

Posted by wlpo on June 12, 2015

The newest building on the Illinois Valley Community College campus is earning national praise for its environmental efficiency.

The Peter Miller Community Technology Center has earned “LEED gold certification” from the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED means Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design.

The tech center was called a “showcase example of sustainable design”. The building earned high environmental scores for things like lighting, heating and cooling, water efficient landscaping and use of recycled products.

IVCC President Jerry Corcoran says the recognition aligns with the school’s vision statement of “Leading our community in learning, working and growing.”
