The trial for a Peru woman allegedly driving under the influence when she caused a crash that killed a popular teacher has been put off.
A jury trial was supposed to start this week for 60-year-old Margaret Insco. However during a final pre-trial hearing on Friday, Judge Cynthia Raccuglia put off a trial and told Insco to be back in court this Friday for another pretrial hearing. Raccuglia also denied a motion for Insco to plead guilty without a sentencing agreement.
Insco was allegedly driving impaired last September when she crashed into a truck and car on Route 251 in Peru. 57-year-old Kim Parsons of Spring Valley died in the crash. He was a teacher with the Streator Elementary School District and was involved with Stage 212.
Insco is charged with aggravated DUI and possession of a controlled substance. She’s in the La Salle County Jail on $500,000 bond.
