Utica’s police chief passes away after battling cancer

An officer who worked for both the La Salle and Utica Police Departments has died.

Mark Wren died Tuesday after a battle with cancer. He was the acting chief of police in Utica and also was a sergeant for the La Salle PD.

He was hired in La Salle the same day in 1988 as Chief Rob Uranich. Uranich says it’s a very sad day for La Salle PD, calling Wren an excellent officer and that he will be greatly missed.

Funeral service information hasn’t been released yet.
