Transition going smoothly at new OSF hospital in Mendota

Posted by wlpo on April 22, 2015

It’s been three weeks since Mendota Community Hospital was integrated into the OSF Healthcare System and renamed OSF Saint Paul.

A few changes have occured at the hospital since the official change April 1, but the transition has been going very well, according to OSF Saint Paul president Jennifer Junis.

Junis said there haven’t been any unforeseen challenges and that the IT and HR departments have been very busy the first few weeks with a lot of behind the scenes work. She added the staff has done a wonderful job with the transition.

Some of the changes you’ll notice at the hospital are very visual, like the addition of a crucifix in every room, now that the hospital is part of a catholic healthcare organization, Junis said.
She also said construction is already underway for a new and bigger chapel area. There are also plans in the future to add more specialty services and primary care.

Junis, who was named president after the OSF takeover, comes to the area from Kewanee, where she was president at OSF Saint Luke. She said she looked forward to getting to know the community and becoming involved in local events and groups.
