Peru City Council passes a balanced budget

Posted by wlpo on April 20, 2015

Despite all the cuts coming from Springfield, the Peru City Council has passed a balanced budget for the new budget year starting May 1st.

The city’s General Fund is expected to have revenues of $13.6 million with nearly half of that coming from sales tax dollars. The budget projects state income tax revenues to be sliced in half.

When it comes to projected expenses for the next budget year, the city is expected to pay out over five million dollars for salary and benefits and over a million dollars for street improvements including work on North Peoria Street. The budget also has two million dollars in it for building a new public works facility.
