Posted by wlpo on April 15, 2015

CHICAGO (AP) – Dates have been set in the special election to replace former U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock.

A primary will happen July 7th with a general election on Sept. 10th. Candidates can start filing election papers today. State Sen. Darin LaHood is considered the front-runner in the heavily Republican district.

Schock resigned last month amid questions about his office expenses and campaign spending. The Justice Department is investigating him.
