IVCH thinks cuts could lead to job losses

Posted by wlpo on April 14, 2015

Proposed Medicaid cuts by the governor have the Illinois Valley Community Hospital Board scrambling.

The board is sending State Senator Sue Rezin and State Representative Frank Mautino a resolution asking them to reject the governor’s proposed Medicaid funding cuts. The Illinois Hospital Association claims Governor Bruce Rauner’s plan will cost hospitals statewide $800 million and IVCH alone nearly $660,000. IVCH CEO Tommy Hobbs says that big of a cut will “jeopardize access to health care and the creation and retention of good paying, professional jobs”.

Medicaid covers 13 percent of all patients treated at IVCH.
