Ameren will upgrade infrastructure

Posted by wlpo on April 12, 2015

Ameren will invest 2.6 million dollars in infrastructure upgrades this year in LaSalle County. The utility company said Friday it will add 170-thousand dollars in automation to the Peru-Huntsman substation to provide real-time data on system performance and provide a quicker response to service interruptions. A breaker will be installed in the South Ottawa substation to allow Ameren to switch service if a transformer fails. In the city itself, automated and remote controlled switching devices will be installed that reduce the number of customers affected by an outage. Total investment in Ottawa is 870-thousand dollars.

And, in Wedron, a 2.5 mile section of power lines will be upgraded to allow for future customers. Total cost is 2.6 million. Improvements should be in service by the end of the year.
