Peru City Council meets last time before the election

Posted by wlpo on April 6, 2015

The Peru City Council meeting was contentious two weeks ago. What’s it going to be like the night before the election?

Monday’s meeting starts with a budget hearing at 7. The council will then decide on whether or not to extend a franchise agreement with Comcast allowing them to offer cable to Peru for another five years. As part of the deal the city gets a franchise fee of 5 percent of gross revenues for Comcast in Peru.

The council also is looking at approving a 40-year lease with OSF to have the hospital build a hangar at Illinois Valley Regional Airport. Rent would be just over $3,200 for the first year.
Before the nights over, there will also be two chances for public comment.
