Groundbreaking held for future medical marijuana cultivation center in Oglesby

The first ceremonial pile of dirt has been moved for a medical marijuana cultivation center in Oglesby.

Green Thumb Industries is the developer behind the cultivation center. They won a hotly contested battle for the one cultivation center license in all of the District 17 state police coverage area.

The planned Oglesby cultivation center will be south of Loves Travel Stop along Interstate 39. It’s expected to bring 100 jobs and be a major electric supplier to Oglesby.

The first medical marijuana should be planted by this fall.
