Tuition not expected to go up at the U of I

Posted by wlpo on January 15, 2015

CHICAGO (AP) – For the first time in awhile, tuition won’t be going up at the University of Illinois for students who live in the state.

Trustees are meeting Thursday and will vote on a plan to freeze tuition for the coming school year at current rates. President Robert Easter said last week the university wants to make affordability a top priority.

The plan would freeze tuition at $12,036 a year in Urbana-Champaign. Tuition would increase by 2 percent for out of state students.
