Business community gives positive feedback over new intersection design in Peru

Posted by wlpo on December 16, 2014

You’ve heard a lot of people complain about the intersection by Dairy Queen and Hobby Lobby in Peru, but a proposal to improve the busy intersection is getting positive feedback from local business managers.

Engineers want to move the intersection of 38th Street and Venture Drive west into a shopping center parking lot. After having about a week to consider the changes, representatives from First Federal Savings Bank, Dairy Queen and hotels along Venture Drive seemed pleased during a follow-up meeting last night. Zack Luedtke manages Dairy Queen. He thinks the changes would be an improvement.

The next step is for engineers to come up with a 3D model and to develop a storm water and drainage plan. City engineer Eric Carls says in a few months he’ll have a more accurate cost estimate, but so far he guesses it would cost 500 thousand dollars.

He doubts you’ll see the new intersection finished next year.
