Man at center of Peru heroin bust released from the hospital and sent to jail

Posted by wlpo on December 8, 2014

If you’ve been following the story of a heroin bust in Peru, the man arrested is out of the hospital and in jail.

43-year-old Jeffrey Scholle was arrested Wednesday morning after investigators say they found 50 grams of heroin and around ten thousand dollars in cash. Instead of being taken directly to jail, Scholle was taken to a Peoria hospital for medical treatment that was unrelated to his arrest.

Peru Police Chief Doug Bernabei called the arrest “significant” and says it came after police pulled off several undercover drug buys.

Scholle is being held on two million dollars bond.
