Area fire departments getting grant money for new equipment

Posted by wlpo on November 22, 2014

When you’re a small fire department, any financial assistance helps.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is giving grant money to Utica, DePue and Amboy Fire Departments. Utica is getting $10,000 towards a pump and water tank, a trailer and a utility terrain vehicle. DePue is getting a $7,000 grant to buy a UTV, trash pump and hoses. Amboy’s fire department is getting a $10,000 grant for lighting, gloves and gear.

The fire departments have to match the grant amount from the state.
