Gas falls below three bucks in the Illinois Valley

Posted by wlpo on October 11, 2014

It’s taken a long time but gas prices in parts of the Illinois Valley fell below three dollars a gallon.

According to GasBuddy.com, you can find unleaded for $2.89 a gallon in Streator. That’s the cheapest gas in the state. Also selling for under three bucks are stations in Peru, Ottawa and Princeton. Stations in Spring Valley, Oglesby, Utica and La Salle are still selling for between $3.05 to $3.09 a gallon.

The statewide average price for gas is $3.34 a gallon, nearly a dime drop from last week.
