“Billie the Clown” dies

Posted by wlpo on October 11, 2014

A woman with 2 faces – one she wore to entertain  in our area died this week. The News Tribune says “Billie the Clown” – known as Willia Hunter – died Wednesday at age 85. For 30 some years,  Hunter worked as a professional performer for children and adults while also selling real estate and being a seamstress.  She appeared at many charity events, too.

Daughter Sue Johnson said her mother loved being a clown. Mom said “it’s the best thing she’s ever done.” Hunter first turned to clowning in Florida to entertain cranky senior citizens and got an overwhelming positive response. In 1984, after unexpectedly losing a son, she turned to clowning again to deal with the pain.
