The men and women trying to keep you safe in Oglesby are closer to getting pay raises.
According to the NewsTribune, the Oglesby City Council put on file Monday night new, three-year contracts for officers covered under a union. The plan is to give all the officers a 3 percent pay raise in year one of the contract and a 2.5 percent raise in the next two years. The next contract should officially be approved in two weeks.
The council did hold off on moving ahead with a new contract with the police chief and his assistant because of a “language issue” in the ordinance.
