Red Cross seeks a new organization for a mobile meals program

Posted by wlpo on September 20, 2014

When it’s hard to leave your house to get to the store, you come to appreciate a mobile meal service like the one overseen by the local Red Cross Office. Due to changes at the top, the Red Cross is looking for another organization to take over.

Sarah Stasik is the manager of the Peru office. She says they want to make it so people receiving the meals won’t have a disruption in service.  The directive to no longer offer the meals service came from the national Red Cross organization.

The meals are prepared at Illinois Valley Community Hospital and would continue to be. The group that takes over the meals would need to keep track of the money and recruit and screen volunteers.

If you are part of a group that’s interested, call the Peru Red Cross office.
