La Salle County CASA training new volunteers
Posted by wlpo on September 11, 2014
Abuse and dysfunction doesn’t have to be a way of life. You can be the stable and reliable adult to a neglected child when you volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate. CASA’s, as they are known, work on behalf of a judge to make sure the basic needs of a child are being met.
Cici Chalus is the Executive Director of La Salle County CASA. She says unlike caseworkers who handle multiple cases at a time, as a CASA you would focus on one case. Your observations would be used in court so the judge can make an informed decision about the child’s placement.
If it sounds like something you would like to try, volunteer training begins at 6pm Thursday in the basement of the La Salle County Governmental Complex.
