Stready rain causes some flash flooding

Posted by wlpo on September 10, 2014

Flash flooding caused some drivers to be turned back trying to get into Mendota.

Crews with the Illinois Department of Transportation put up barricades for a few hours Wednesday morning because of high water at the Route 251 viaduct on the southwest side of Mendota. A Mendota police dispatcher says the water got almost two feet high.

There were also reports of water on roads on Route 34 near LaMoille and Route 34 east of Interstate 39.
