More I-80 construction in the works

Bringing the traffic on Interstate 80 down to one lane in each direction means there’s a good chance you’ll be hitting the breaks, if not for the construction zone speed, for backed up traffic.
Nearly four miles is being resurfaced starting next month. The highway will be milled and resurfaced from the Fox River Bridge near Ottawa to just west of the Marseilles interchange.
Herb Jung with IDOT says it’s going to be a long project. Work will begin September 8 and continue until Thanksgiving and then resume next spring. He says it should be completed sometime next July. Jung says he expects there to be a lot of night work.
D Construction is doing the work for about 8.5 million dollars. Jung says there will be a lot of night work.
