Maud Powell Arts Festival to feature professional and student performers

Posted by wlpo on August 17, 2014

You have to start somewhere and for many local musicians their early performances were at a local music festival.

At the Maud Powell Arts Celebration in Peru you’ll hear professional and veteran performers and young piano strings students too.

Chris Coughlin is a part of the celebration that begins next Friday.  A band of junior high aged musicians debuts Friday night with a performance at Maud Powell Plaza. More students will be performing Saturday morning the Peru Municipal Building.

Sarah Arter, who you may have heard at LP High School or a local church, has returned from Ireland and will be playing Irish fiddle music at the Peru Public Library Saturday afternoon.

An open-air concert featuring Sara Ptak, Steve Sharp and local dancers is Saturday night outside the Municipal Building. All of the performances are free.

Learn more about the Maud Powell Arts Festival by listening to an interview that’s available at the WLPO AM and FM news page.
