Streator Police warn of a new phone scam

Posted by wlpo on August 9, 2014

The Publishers Clearing House is real, but an offer from someone wanting you to transfer them money is not. The Streator Police Department is warning of a new phone scam involving a caller claiming to be from the Publishers Clearing House.

They’ll ask you to buy “money dots” and to transfer money to them so you can get your winnings. It’s a scam. Never give out your bank account number or personnel information to receive money.
