Extensive search in Sheridan for clues into Dwight double-murder

Posted by wlpo on August 4, 2014

The search is over for now near Sheridan as officers search for evidence surrounding a double-murder in Dwight.

Illinois State Police Spokeswoman Monique Bond says they are “processing items” found during a 26-acre search yesterday outside of Sheridan. She says they were looking for evidence in the Dwight murders of Kelli Denker and her mom Donna along with burglaries in Grundy County.

The Denker’s were killed June 14th at their home in Dwight. Less than two weeks later, Joseph Sipple of Morris shot and killed himself in front of deputies in Sheridan after officers tried to arrest him on a warrant for theft.

Last month Dwight Police Chief Tim Henson stopped short of calling Sipple a suspect in the Denker murders but admitted Sipple and the younger Denker were former acquaintances.
