Peru renews memberships with IVAC

Posted by wlpo on July 29, 2014

The old saying that you need to spend money to make money rings true for the leaders of Peru. The city has renewed its membership with the Illinois Valley Area Chamber of Commerce. The annual membership is just over $14,000.

The city is also keeping its membership with North Central Illinois Council of Governments for $3,000. NCICG has helped the city receive state grants in the past and is working with them to get money for a splash pad.

Construction scheduled to begin for a new gas station in La Salle

Posted by wlpo on July 29, 2014

The northwest corner of Bucklin and Route 6 in La Salle has pretty much been a fenced off pile of dirt for several months but that will begin to change next week.

Construction of a Beck’s gas station is scheduled to begin Monday according to La Salle Economic Development Director Don Aleksy.

The corner used to have a Clark Station but it closed a while ago and then sat empty for several years before being purchased and torn down. A couple of other buildings were also torn down to make room and Aleksy says a remaining building will also be torn down.

He thinks they will move quickly with construction.
