Standoff ends in Oglesby

Posted by wlpo on July 21, 2014

A standoff involving a man with guns in Oglesby ended after seven hours.

It all started after 8:30pm Sunday when a woman told police she was beaten by her husband. After being told Eric Fischer was inside his home with two handguns and three dogs, officers from across the Illinois Valley surrounded the home and evacuated neighboring homes. Officers tried talking Fischer into coming out but he refused. Police finally went in around 4:30am and took Fischer into custody.

He was arrested for domestic battery with more charges pending. In a related incident, Johnathan Norrell was arrested during the standoff for obstructing justice after allegedly going into the secured area.
