Peru Plan Commission to hear medical marijuana reqest

Posted by wlpo on July 20, 2014

The first medical marijuana company to ask Peru for permission to open north of Interstate 80 will be considered by the Plan Commission this week.

AgricareLabs CEO Ethan Ruby wants to convert the former Yellow Trucking terminal into a medical marijuana cultivation center. The company is applying for a state license and is asking Peru for a special use permit. The building is zoned for manufacturing. Ruby says he’s willing to invest $8 to 10 million into the project.

The Plan Commission will consider the request at 6:30pm Wednesday at City Hall.

Another company, Med Farm also plans to ask for a special use permit for land that isn’t far from the trucking terminal.
