Ambulance director’s pay back up for debate in Oglesby

Posted by wlpo on July 7, 2014

Two years ago, tempers flared and tears were shed in Oglesby as the city council and ambulance department debated hours and pay. Could it be déjà vu all over again?

According to the NewsTribune, the Oglesby City Council put on file a letter from the ambulance board wanting Ambulance Director Cathie Edens to get a pay raise. They argue she should be allowed to work more hours and get paid more because calls for service are way up.

The ambulance board suggests Edens be paid $56,000 a year. When a new contract was approved two years ago, Edens salary was set at $46,000.

Finance Commissioner Paul Danekas doesn’t seem too sold on the pay raise saying last night “Where do we draw the line?”
