MORRIS, Ill. (AP) – A former Grundy County Health Department bookkeeper is free on bond after being charged with theft and official misconduct.
Renae Chronister is accused of stealing $47,041 over a period from January 1st, 2010 to May 21st, 2012. She turned herself in Wednesday and posted $5,000 bond.
After being fired from the health department last year, Chronister threatened to sue the county and the Board of Health. An investigation was prompted by indications cash was being recorded within the health department, but not being deposited with the Grundy County Treasurer’s office.
