Four men arrested after a fight in La Salle

A fight near a bar in La Salle left three men arrested for battery and another taken to the hospital.

Police were called to the Ninth Street Pub Friday night. They arrested Conner McNamara, Martin McNamara, and David Thoms of La Salle for battery.  They were given notices to appear in court.  Jay Jelderks of La Salle was also there and was arrested on several failure to appear warrants. He was taken to the La Salle County Jail.

One man was taken to Illinois Valley Community Hospital where he was treated and released.

Streator receives Community Stabilization grant

You can tell by the weeds in the yard when a house has been abandon. It’s not what you’d like to see looking out your backdoor. Streator is receiving a $44,000 Community Stabilization Grant to clean up those kinds of properties.

The money can be used cut weeds and grass, put up fences and tear down eyesores. Streator was picked for the grant based on need and readiness to proceed.

The money for the grant comes from fees paid by banks and other lenders based on how many foreclosures they have each year.

Undercover TRIDENT investigation leaves three people arrested

You don’t have to drive to Chicago to buy heroin. Police say they caught a couple of drug dealers living not far from you.

Ashley Dominic of Spring Valley arrested Tuesday after police say she sold heroin to someone working undercover with TRIDENT. She’s facing a charge of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance was being held in the Bureau County Jail.

Two days later, TRIDENT arrested Robert Billhymer of La Salle for a similar charge. Billhymer is accused of selling to an undercover agent. Police say they also found heroin while searching his home on LaHarpe Street. He’s charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession with intent to deliver.

His roommate, Michelle Baker, was arrested for misdemeanor marijuana and drug paraphernalia charges. Baker was given a notice to appear while Billhymer was taken to the La Salle County Jail.
